2
JJackie Boatwright-Daus is a Pastor, Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Author, Actress, Singer, Film Producer, former TV Personality, Mother, Preacher and Teacher. Many see her glory but most donít know her story. This Georgia native and former beauty queen has been in the fire, tried and tested and has come out as pure gold. Her tragedy to triumph story has touched and inspired lives around the world. A well sought after public speaker, Jackie has graced audiences that range from churches, civic clubs, fraternities, sororities, ladies groups and schools. She has won and been nominated for many awards including a Black Image Award and Woman of the Year. In March of 2005, she was awarded the Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award by the Secretary of State. She has been honored and recognized for her efforts by governors, mayors and other prominent leaders. She is on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. The study of Communications led to a seven year career in television as host and producer of a Fox Television affiliate program entitled "The Jackie Boatwright Show. She's interviewed James Brown, Steve Harvey, Tom Joyner, Chris Rock, and a host of other celebrity talents. The Jackie Boatwright show toured college campuses, taping in front of live audiences. Jackie has appeared as a guest on several national television and radio shows, including, CNN Headline News, The Maury Povich Show and Jane Wallace Live. She as appeared in JET, EBONY, MONEY , Associate Press, Sass, Booking Matters and Sophisticates Black Hair Magazines. Jackie is a licensed and ordained Minister of the Gospel. She is the founding Pastor of HisWay Christian Church, in Hiltonia, GA and Lithonia, GA. She has preached the Word to a host of churches of various denominations and races. Jackie experienced what she deems as three days of total unexpectedness. On September 9, 2001 her faith was put to the test when her then 14 month old was found head-first and motionless in an unattended bucket of mop water while attending daycare. The next day, September 10, her close friend idied and the third day was September 11. Doctors told her that her son, Juan, would never amount to anything that he would be a vegetable. By faith in God she brought him home after 65 tedious and trying days in the hospital. Jackie wrote and self-published a book about her ordeal entitled "Juan's Story" which tells how God personally stepped in and ordered every step of Juan's care. Jackie was devastated when she learned that the center was uninsured and unable to cover the millions of dollars she faced in Juan's medical care. Her tenacity unveiled a horrible truth about state-licensed daycare centers in Georgia; they are not required by law to carry liability insurance. On March 19, 2004 after Jackie led a one woman crusade for change, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed "Juan's Law." Her research revealed that more than 40 states have this same practice. Jackie traveled to Virginia and convinced lawmakers to pass Juan's Law, Governor Tim Kaine signed it into law in 2006. Her fight to protect children led her to the United States Capitol where she convinced Congressman John Barrow to introduce "The Anthony DeJuan Boatwright Act" which passed the House in 2007 and again June of 2009. The city of Augusta, GA renamed Lincolnton Parkway, Anthony DeJuan Parkway on May 5, 2008. Jackie Boatwright's efforts to protect children have been covered in MONEY Magazine, on CNN Headline News, the Associated Press and many other news medias. Jackie has a BS in Pre-Law and a Masters in Business Administration and an EdS in Educational Leadership. Jackie is a mother to 2 sons and is married to Kevin M. Daus, MD. Jackie was crowned Mrs. Georgia International 2016. She accredits salvation at a young age as her only asset to her many accomplishments. It was that same salvation that gave her the strength and courage to stand on her faith in the midst of the most trying time in her life and tell the doctors that she had another doctor working on her son's case. When they asked her who was this doctor, she replied. "DR. JESUS" Jackie Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed "Juan's Law." Her research revealed that more than 40 states have this same practice. FAQs
When is the pageant and where?
I've never been in a pageant before, can I still compete? Absolutely! There is no experience required or necessary.
There is no preliminary competition in my area, can I still compete?
In areas where there is no preliminary competition, those titles are awarded by our Executive State Committee based on eligibility and applications received. This process is called "competing at-large."
Are there height and weight requirements?
This Mrs.GeorgiaI nternational Pageant has no height or weight stipulations. We know that exceptional ladies come in all shapes and sizes. The Mrs. Georgia nternational Pageant does showcase the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the fitness wear portion of the competition.
What age group typically competes in the Pageant?
To compete, a contestant must be between the ages 21 and 56 as of July 1st of the competition year.  Every year, we host women as young as 21, as old as 56, and everywhere in-between.  Likewise, winners range in age.  Age is all relative: it is the woman that wins the title, not her age.
What is a platform?  A platform is a cause or issue that is near or dear to your heart. Each contestant in the Mrs. Georgia International Pageant will select a platform which she will spend the year promoting if selected as Mrs. Georgia International. There is no right or wrong platform, as long as it's an issue that you are passionate about.
What if I don't have a talent?
No talent is required. The Mrs. Georgia  International Pageant does not have a talent portion of the competition (and we all know that being married is talent enough!).
What do you wear for the fitness wear portion of the pageant?  Each contestant will wear the official fitness wear, designed specifically for Mrs. International organization, and Mrs. contestants have the option of purchasing a one-piece or two-piece ensemble from the official supplier, The Competitive Image. The fitness wear is worn with plain white athletic shoes of the contestant's own choosing.
What is the deadline for entry?
The deadline for entry into the 2016 Georgia  International Pageant has passed.  Stay tuned for details on next year's pageant!
